June 21st, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Google, Productivity Tools, Tips & Tricks

Looking at hundreds of e-mail addresses in your contact list can be boring. Wouldn’t it be much better to see pictures of your contacts instead?
Wish to send mails to your contacts. Once you’ve assigned a picture to a contact, you can see it whenever you position your mouse over an e-mail address or name.
To add an image to a contact in www.Gmail.com, just follow these simple steps:
Click on the ‘Contacts link’ that appears on the left pane of your Gmail account.
Click on the contact’s name to which you want to add an image.
You are then brought to the contact’s profile where an image selected by the contact already appears alongside the contact’s name. Click on ‘Edit’ to edit the contact information and make changes.
Move your mouse on the picture shown on the right side, then click on the ‘Change Picture’ link.
Select ‘My computer’ from the window that comes up next.
Click on the ‘Browse’ button to select an image of your choice.
Click on the ‘Upload picture’ button.
To crop the image, highlight the required frame and click on the ‘Apply Changes’ button. Click on the ‘Save’ button.

Apply One Folder’s View to All Folders

April 9th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Tips & Tricks, windows

XP allows you to view folders five different ways: thumbnails, tiles, icons, list, details, but what you select for one folder doesn’t apply to all of them. Sure, you can configure each folder individually, but that takes far too long.
To apply the same view universally,
Go to My Documents,
click Tools,
then Folder Options,
then select the View tab,
and click Apply to All Folders.

How to Disable Windows Live Messenger

March 10th, 2008 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Tips & Tricks, windows

I have installed Windows Live Messenger on my computer. Everytime I visit Hotmail to check mail or open Internet Explorer, Windows Live Messenger starts. I disabled this messenger from startup but I cannot figure out to stop it from activating itself every time I open IE.

We can try disabling Windows Live Messenger from opening up every time you start Internet Explorer with the following steps. Open Internet Explorer, click on ‘Tools I Manage Add-ons’. In the list of add-ons, look for ‘Windows Live
Sign-In Helper’. Select it and click on the ‘Disable’ radio button. Click on ‘OK’ and restart your computer. This add-on is usually installed because a component called ‘Windows Live Sign-In Assistant’ is usually installed during the initial setup. Disabling this should solve your problem.

This happens with some other motherboards also. The cause of this strange occurrence  is an uncommon jumper put on the main board, which is responsible for the powering of the USB buses. This provide the USB bus with the standby power (+5VSB)  to enable the switching ‘ON’ of the computer via USB or PS2 devices. Connected devices were continuously  supplied with electricity in this way. (more…)
