Smart Design and Intel have designed a very cool multifunctional device, dubbed the Intel Magic. This portable concept device serves as a phone, an MP3 player and it also packs a web browser, plus many multimedia features. There’s also an LCD display on board and a keyboard, as you can see below.

The keyboard’s buttons are activated via a customisable fabric material, that will seemingly make browsing easier. This is sort of a mini laptop, that can also be used as a phone, once it’s closed up, or even a king size MP3 player. Wondering what solutions Intel stuffed inside: Atom? Moorestown?

We’d surely like Nvidia Tegra to sneak in there, or at least the Ion platform, perhaps with some support for Windows (Mobile) 7? Don’t mind us, we’re just daydreaming again…

Japanese researchers have developed a holographic technology which could help people to enjoy watching 3D TV programmes and films without becoming tired.

Mr Yuji Sakamoto, an associate professor at the Hokkaido University, who leads the group, said he expects the holographic technology to aid development of more sophisticated 3D home theater and video-conference systems.

Mr Sakamoto’s group has succeeded in downsizing the system compared with previous ones and has developed an integrated method for shooting images, transmitting data and displaying them on a 2 by 4 cm panel, a Japanese news agency reported.

Currently, a person can become tired while watching 3D movies as each eye captures separate images that do not fully superimpose on each other.

Mr Sakamoto said the new holographic system could help to solve the problem by enabling people to watch higher resolution 3D images with much less fatigue.

But it could take 10 years before the system is put into practical use by enlarging the display and reducing development costs, Mr Sakamoto said.

The first time you see the Creative ZEN Mozaic, it looks like a flatter and larger version of ZEN Stone plus similar body and rounded corners. At closer inspection you can see the difference. The ZEN Mozaic has got a matte charcoal finish all over and gray and white accented keys that look great on it.
As far as support is concerned the ZEN mosaic sup ports majority audio for mats, MP3 and WMA to name a few. Along with that it can also play video content on it as well, though you will definitely have to wait for hours to convert the video with the bundled utility. We wish there was support for newer video formats like MP4 and DivX on this PMP.The ZEN Mozaic has a 1.4- inch colour display screen having a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The display is vibrant and colourful, and is good enough to display all information about a song. Due to its low resolution, video is not a good experi ence.
An FM player and a Voice recorder are also included, which is good for people who don’t like to have too many gadgets.  The ZEN mosaic is a powerful little monster when it comes to music playback. The quality of the bundled headphones are a big let down. You will have to get yourself a good pair of cans if you buy this player, so remember to add that cost.
The battery life is good enough, and lasts about 6 hours between charges. FM reception is bad, and the lack of an expandable memory slot is worse – you’re stuck with the 2 GB provided. There are 4 GB and 8 GB versions available as well, but it’s still not enough these days. Overall, the bundle is something that looks a lot better than it sounds.
