Upgrading from windows XP Pro to Windows 7

I have a Pavillion HP desktop with Win XP Pro and I was thinking to upgrade or fresh installation to Windows 7. But by doing so, I am afraid that my apps will not work on the Windows 7 platform. Some of the applications that I’d like them to work on Win 7 are Quicken 2009, Photoshop 6, and DMX.

firstly check whether your pc is compatible with win 7 or no. If yes, you would be able to make a fresh install of win7 even with win 7 upgrade DVD. All your mentioned programs should run on win 7 under the Win XP or Vista SP2 compatibility mode.

What version of 7 are you considering? If it is Enterprise/Professional/Ultimate, the n XP Mode might be a good solution for you as a fallback plan…. It seamlessly integrates Windows Virtual PC, with a licensed copy of XP, into your Win7 enviroment……

Meaning you can install an app on the Virtualized XP, and have a shortcut to it on your Win7 menu, and it runs under the XP enviromnet, but while you are logged into Win7….

Download Windows XP Mode
